Eye care is a top priority at Optique Barangaroo. Our experienced optometrists use cutting edge technology to conduct the most thorough examinations possible. 

Hi-resolution digital retinal imaging (DRI) is standard procedure in our eye examinations. These images are crucial for diagnosing and monitoring a range of health issues including macular degeneration and glaucoma.

We also perform 3D Optical Coherance Tomography (OCT) scans and visual field tests as required.

Early detection of eye disease can prevent blindness in the long term. The OCT produces detailed 3D images of your eye and can detect a range of conditions years before they become a serious threat to your sight and general health.

The visual field equipment can detect dysfunction in your central and peripheral vision which may be caused by various medical conditions such as glaucoma, stroke, pituitary disease, brain tumours and other neurological problems.

 
CONTACT LENSES

Some people find that wearing glasses interferes with their lifestyle, particularly if they play sport, and others simply feel more confident without them. Contact lenses are the convenient and safe choice for anyone who doesn't want to wear glasses.

There are a variety of different options in the contact lens world and our optometrists specialise in contact lens fitting, helping to select and tailor the best option for your particular situation. 

Whilst contact lenses are a brilliant innovation, it's important to give your eyes as many breaks from contact lenses as possible. Try to switch to your glasses when you get home for the day and aim to give your eyes one full day of rest a week.

 
EYE HEALTH INFORMATION

• Everyone knows about the importance of sunscreen to protect their skin, but did you know that it's just as important to protect your eyes? Not all sunglasses are created equal and making sure that you are protecting your eyes from harmful UV rays is essential for overall eye health. It is advised to wear sunglasses even on the days when it may not be sunny as UV rays are still present. The lenses are treated with a special coating, both front and back, preventing the rays from penetrating. 
• Dry eye can become a problem for people who are spending a lot of time in air-conditioned spaces, wearing face-masks or staring at a computer screen for many hours. We blink four times less when we're in front of a computer screen which means the eyes can be generally less lubricated. A few things you can try to keep your dry eye at bay include, staying well hydrated - drink plenty of water, use a humidifier or come in for a consult where we can offer a range of treatment options including Blephasteam. This is an extremely effective device which delivers moist heat to enhance tear quality.
• Allergies can cause a range of uncomfortable eye issues including allergic conjunctivitis. If you are experiencing discomfort with symptoms such as intense itching or burning, puffy eyelids or stringy discharge we recommend being treated by an optometrist as soon as possible.
